Down on the beach for 08:30 with very little expectation of finding any
wind. Although yesterday's forecast was promising, there wasn't a breath of
wind all the way down to Weston. On the beach, a reasonable F4, dead
onshore. Bizarre.
Went out with my 6.2m at first, planing about 40% of the time, but was
spending too much time wallowing in the lulls and having difficulty getting
out through the breakers with it being so onshore.
When the wind dropped slightly, I decided to rerig with my new (to me) 7.4m
NP Supersonic. That certainly did the trick. The wind instantly picked up &
everyone was flying on their 6m sails.
Anyway, I stuck with the 7.4m and - quite simply - had a blast! Pretty much
overpowered for much of the time, but I didn't come off the plane in the
lulls!!!
A really good few hours sail whilst the tide was in - Certainly feeling
well stretched as I write this in the evening!
The odd thing is - there were only half a dozen boards & about the same no
of kites out there. Where were you all? You missed out!!
